I LOVE a challenge

May 2nd, 2008

I received an email wondering if I would be up for creating something custom for a kitchen island consisting of 18 feet (yes, I said 18 FEET) of stunning granite. I was thrilled with the challenge and couldn’t wait to get started. Together, the customer and I kicked around some ideas, and in the end - the biggest tabletop piece to ever leave the shop! About 4′ long, over 12″ tall, and roughly 16″ wide. It was truly gorgeous and is now on it’s way to it’s new home in New York. Thanks for the opportunity Kim! I hope you love it as much in person!

This may not be as exciting to you as it is to me, but woohoo - look at all this great packaging material I scooped up from the local industrial park!

Exciting coverage today on the Today show! I’m working with interior designer Robin Wilson, who, I just have to say, is an exceptional person. Robin specializes in eco-design, and we crossed paths when she was working on a eco-decorating project which aired on PBS. I recently developed an exclusive bowl for her, created from the scraps of a local steel-toe boot manufacturer. What a thrill to see Robin, sitting next to Laura Bush and showing the bowl along with other eco-decorating choices. Thanks Robin!

Robin also carries some of my other work on her retail site www.theneststore.com

Happy Earth Day

It can seem like an overwhelming and daunting task when you ponder a green lifestyle. I mean, if you really sat and thought about the chemicals and toxins that surround us on a daily basis, you might choose to curl up into a fetal position, never leave your home, and sustain yourself with an organic protein shake packaged in a container absent of bisphenol A. But, what kind of a life is that!? Our family is taking steps to green our life. I recently replaced all of Emerson’s baby bottles with glass ones, I switched to green cleaning products and I’m buying more organic when I can - especially baby food, and I can’t WAIT to have fresh tomatoes and herbs from our container garden this summer. Even though my time is limited, like every other busy mom, going green doesn’t have to add complication to your life. A couple of sites in my favorites:
